HSV Garden Challenge #3

The time has come where we were finally able to plant outside. I have been wanting to plant outside my front window since the day we moved in. On Mother’s Day John and the kids did just that.

I started to dig everything out last year so it didn’t take much to clear the area. I left whatever plants them are and split them up some.

I got my Japanese Maple Tree and some pretty annuals. JJ even did a GREAT job at planting the flowers without assistance.

Now onto Heavens garden. It warmed up so we planted her garden in the backyard along with some new things.
*Heaven is 3 years old and JJ is 11

WE ADDED SOME CORN

I then used some of the plants that were in the front and placed them in her garden.

Put a divider down and placed her flowers and veggies next to them.

If you make the picture bigger you can see her little sprouts from her giant peppers coming up.

After 2 weeks planted this is an update

We were lucky enough to win Amanda Bennetts Garden Unit so we have been doing somethings out of that. Heaven seems to be very interested in learning about how things grow and she isn’t afraid to get a little dirty (not even in a skirt)

Well maybe a little..

April 28th Link Up-Today my little man turns 2!!!

Michigan is still chilly most days so the weather man said not to plant outside until after Mother’s Day. In the process our Bean plant died.

You can see the start of the plants by checking out this post. We have Pinks,Marigolds, Giant Peppers, and some potato pieces.   For Easter my Mother In Law mailed a package that had some cool eggs that we started planting. The kids are so excited seeing the changes that different plants make. I cant wait to see the flowers grow some more. A great site we use for our lesson is Everything Preschool.

You crack open the top and water them for 11 days so we will see what happens!

The Lesson

Since we already started with growing beans a couple weeks ago I figured why not expand. So if we go back a couple weeks it all started with a couple kidney beans and a Jack and the Beanstalk lesson.

I didn’t think our beans were going to grow into a big plant as I usually kill things. Once Heaven understood that when you plant seeds they grow, we planted some flowers in an egg carton. Michigan is still really cold so I cant plant outside.

This week we have been visiting the site www.vegetables-for-kids.com and reading the story about the Pepper Brothers it’s a cute story and Heaven likes it so we planted Giant Pepper seeds.

Once our pots were planted we moved them to the classroom and put them with our bean plant.

Our bean plant is getting so tall, I should measure it.

Reaction/Involvement

For being as young as she is, she seems excited about plants growing. Every other day I have Heaven water them and we check everyday to see how tall they are getting.
